Late Sunday update: Mike Gordon’s inside look at the Five-0 headquarters; more photos added in the “Right Place, Right Time” album on Facebook

Mike Gordon’s inside look at the Five-0 headquarters

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s entertainment reporter Mike Gordon got an exclusive look inside the Hawaii Five-0 headquarters.  Here’s a snippet:

With its chocolate-brown wood trim, plush furniture and computers bristling with intelligence data, the headquarters of the new “Hawaii Five-0” squad has the look of a military command center.

The cast and crew of the CBS hit call it “HQ.” It’s been a fixture on nearly every episode of “Five-0,” a Bat Cave in paradise.

But it’s more than just a pretty set. It’s also the setting where executive producer Peter Lenkov breathed life into his vision of the show. Nothing, not even the Benjamin Moore Philipsburg Blue paint on the walls, is here without his blessing.

Even better than the article, follow the link to get an inside tour with an interactive web guide.  As an added bonus, see the video clip of a video engineer explaining how the tabletop PC works.  If you were a member of the Audio/Visual Club in high school, put down your Dungeons and Dragons rulebook and check it out.  You will absolutely love it, I guarantee.

Had two out of four things right in Steve office. Guess 50% is ok.

    loved it!

  4. textbook says:

It was interesting to see the office being created in last night’s rerun of the pilot, after seeing it all fancy and polished in the rest of the episodes. I’d forgotten that. And I get all tingly looking at the incredible tech equipment, that I so wish I could have just for the sheer fun of it. Of course I spend too much time on the computer now… Never mind that, I want to sweep pictures to the monitor! Yay! Someday…

  5. jlopie (Lynnette) says:

Wow! The interactive site is really cool, and very easy to use. I never noticed all the little additions to each character’s office, such as the clay police car in Danno’s office or the martial arts weapons in Chin’s – I guess because the cameras do not spend a lot of time there. According to Peter Lenkov’s comments, maybe they should if we want to ferrett out answers to mysteries! Thought it was really interesting to learn about the computer table and what it takes to make it flow seamlessly from the table to the wall monitor! Thanks for sharing this with us, Officer 808!
