Talking Story with Mike Buck on AM 830 KHVH Honolulu Talk Radio (Hawaii Five-0 podcast Mar 22)

On the radio

Here’s audio of my Hawaii Five-0 talk story session with Mike Buck yesterday on AM 830 KHVH.  We gave a run down of the episode, talked about Masi Oka, the procedural story writing, cast new comer Larisa Oleynik, and Lisa Woo’s part in the episode.

Sooooo disappointed that the conversation about Masi Oka was cut off. Could you give us a bit of a recap? I’ve loved Max from the start and was afraid that the initial negative reviews he got would really cut back on his character. What a relief that he is showing up in more episodes.

Yes! Love Masi Oka and would enjoy hearing about the missing 3 minutes! Enjoyed the Talking Story – you have such a nice radio voice, Officer!

        Why thank you 😉

I believe what was cut out was Mike asking me what the fans in general thought about Masi Oka, and his role in the show. I remember saying that friends generally like him and are used to him playing Hiro in NBC’s heroes, so he already has a reputation of playing a quirky and likable character. Also, he had a large part in this episode, being visited by the team from beginning to the end.

I actually wasn’t crazy about the Max character at first, but I think they’ve toned down his quirkiness to just the right level, and now I enjoy him on the show.

BTW, I think the dip in ratings mostly had to do with Dancing With the Stars premiering over on ABC. Their big numbers gave Castle a nearly 3 million viewer bump up from their average (they usually are at least a million behind H50), and I think is what caused H50 to dip slightly. From what I see around, there are a lot of people who watch both shows, and maybe watched Castle live this time because of DWTS (which I don’t understand the appeal of at all, but oh well!).

enjoyed it as always! I still think you should do a podcast just saying the names of the streets and towns etc. :>) I love your accent! Almost as good as Alex’s…. lol
