Chef Morimoto’s fundraiser for Japan was a huge success

A huge crowd showed up for Wednesday’s benefit fundraiser for quake and tsunami victims in Japan at Morimoto’s Waikiki restaurant.

Chef Morimoto was there himself to host the event.  Showing true culinary dedication, he manned the sushi bar himself!  Entertainers for the night included local singer Raiatea Helm.

The fine people of Morimoto’s Waikiki reported back to me that Wednesday’s fundraiser raised more than $100,000 for relief efforts  in Japan.  One hundred percent of the proceeds went to the American Red Cross Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief fund.

The Hawaii Five-0 VIP set visit package went to a Japanese gentleman named Nobu, who’s generous winning bid of $2500 won him the tour.

See photos for the event on Honolulu Pulse.

Great news officer 808 – it was for a worthy cause. I just feel sooo bad for the people of Japan and to think it was on the news for a good few weeks and now its like a blip off the radar screen…my heart just goes out to the people who are dealing with the nuclear crisis – just wish there was an end to the terror really soon. Keep the prayers up folks and great work in raising the money – worth prize for a worthy cause.
